Did you change any settings on the printer display or the in the printer driver? In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features. Select your HP printer. Just to follow up on this thread - we found that nMap was enabled and caused enough scan traffic to slow down the printer. Disabling nMap solved the issue. Just a quick question, have you checked to see how much work the server is doing?

Too much work could slow a server down. The server is only doing the print jobs for the barcode services and serving up a web interface for the administration of those services. There isn't extremely high traffic on this server that I have seen.

It isn't serving up anything else that is high traffic and its not one of my high bandwidth consumer either. But I probably could look more closely at disk utilization and some other things.

Had a similar issue laggy per page print times. Try disbling SNMP, on the driver's port tab. Come to find out, the Konica Minolta driver we were using polls the printer on every job. Since the print server was at another location, the "polls" were taking up to a minute to reply, thus Windows didnt release job until the responce was accepted. Just a thought. Good luck. Another issue I had was DNS on some printers here.

The printer would slow down a bit because it was always checking the DNS. Once I removed that and changed it to only use IP Addresses, it become a little faster. I'll have to do some further research into this. Issues seems to have improved a little in the past few days but print speeds are still inconsistent.

Just to make sure this one point is out there. All the jobs immediately show up in the print queue for each printer. The problem is that they stay there for seemingly random amounts of time.

You can see them show up after Bartender Commander parses and triggers the job based on the trigger file. All that happens without delay. You can see jobs in the Windows print queue stack up and then all jobs print after they eventually are cleared out by the system after whatever is causing the delay has finished.
