How can I tell if my computer is running a bit or a bit version of Windows? Open About settings. At the right, under Device specifications, see System type.
In the right pane, look at the System Type entry. For a bit version operating system, it will say Xbased PC. Click View and print details. In the System section, you can see whether or not you can run a bit version of Windows under bit capable. An operating system that is designed to work in a computer that processes 64 bits at a time.
Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. I have the same question. I installed 32bit Windows 10 onto my 64bit processor by mistake. You are saying that even though I have a 64bit processor I cannot upgrade because I have a 32bit system installed?
However, if you wish to switch, then you will have to download the Windows 10 ISO file of bit and will have to perform a Clean Install. Hope it helps. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. I'm going to buy a Dell Optiplex and wanted to know if this computer can run Windows 7 Pro 64bit. Here are the Specs. Also should I even bother getting 64bit?
I don't know the difference between 32bit and 64bit so if you could also explain that it would be greatly appreciated.
